How to illuminate a sports facility: the equipment
All equipment must clearly be up to standard. As for the electrical panels , these they must report certain information such as the name and brand of the manufacturer, the type, the current and the rated voltage, the nature of the current and the frequency and the degree of protection. Regarding this last parameter, the containers where the electrical panels are to be stored must have an IP54 degree of protection. For electric cables, use G7 insulating rubber and a PVC sheath. In case of the portable light tower rentals this is very true.
The lamp-holder towers which have the task of illuminating the football field can have different dimensions ranging from 16 meters to 30 meters and can have a truncated cone shape. Every single tower must have a so-called cabinet with the power supply and protection equipment equipped with material that is resistant to both shock and electrical stress.
The rules on lighting football fields
When a competition is held with artificial light, the degree of illumination must be distributed evenly on the playing field and with the right intensity.
These are the regulations issued:
- For stadiums intended for non-competitive activities
- For stadiums destined to competitive activities at the local level
- For stadiums intended for competitive activities at national or international level
Even the referee or in any case the sports judge has the obligation to suspend or not start the game if the intensity of the lighting is insufficient. Just as the visiting team can request the reading of the light intensity on the football field and appeal if the latter is scarce.
The horizontal and vertical lighting on the football fields is very important, in fact, it must allow the public to distinguish the players and the latter must receive the right intensity of light in all directions of the field to be able to follow the trajectory of the ball well . The directionality of the LED lights must be measured at 1.5 meters from the playing field.
The ideal lamps for a soccer field are white light LEDs. Whether it’s 5, 7 or 11 players makes no difference. LEDs have a longer life, are more sustainable and offer a clear, uniform and pleasant view. Particularly with regard to small sports facilities, LED fixtures are a very effective solution.
The different types of outdoor lighting
Outdoor lighting is necessary to enjoy its garden, its terrace or to reach the front door by the driveway at night. In addition, the lighting of your exterior adds an aesthetic touch to your home in the evening.
However, you need functional lighting while highlighting specific areas of your home. Whatever its type, remember that an outdoor lighting device must meet certain standards (including the NF C 15-100) and have an adequate Protection Index (IP).
The respect of the standard is symbolized by a CE marking or even NF in addition to the CE marking on the body of the luminaire. IP side for outdoors, it must be at least 23 standard NF C 15-100 to ensure adequate protection against dust, but especially against splashing water. Be aware that the ideal for outdoor lighting is an IP 65 or higher as it fully protects against any dust and splashing water from all directions.
